No. Please use the remote to ensure that the lift components are not damaged.
    • 3. Why am I being invoiced for lift replacement parts that are under warranty?

Spectrum Aquatics requires the faulty part or product to be returned to us within 15 business days. If the part or product is not returned within this time period, customers will be responsible for paying for all unreturned goods and freight costs. Additionally, if the returned item is deemed to be in good working condition, a restocking fee of 20% may be assessed.

    • 4. What is electropolishing and passivation and what do they do?

Electropolishing and passivation are two processes for treating stainless steel in order to limit surface corrosion. Specifically, electropolishing is the process by which a stainless steel surface is completely smoothed out, removing all surface protrusions and anomalies. In doing so, the ability for corrosive substances to adhere to the stainless steel surface is diminished since there is nothing for them to “grab on to.”

Passivation can be thought of as making a stainless steel surface passive (nonreactive) by removing corrosive materials such as iron, chromium or nickel with a mild acid solution. Removing these alloys prevents oxidation, ultimately limiting the onset of corrosion. Because the tools that are used in the manufacturing of stainless steel products can introduce corrosive alloys to the stainless steel surface, passivation is often the last step during the manufacturing process. Spectrum Aquatics electropolishes and passivates all stainless steel pieces to ensure that the product you are receiving is sent to you in the most pristine, corrosive-resistant form possible.

    • 5. What are the benefits of powder coated vs. non-powder coated stainless steel?

Powder coating is wonderful in that it provides for a colorful, custom look to your pool product that acts as a temporary barrier to surface corrosion. The downside is that once powder coating chips, it is difficult to repair and even more difficult to fend off corrosion in the damaged area. The benefit of non-powder coated stainless steel is that when properly maintained, corrosion can be kept at bay for the life of the product. The obvious downside is that stainless steel, in its natural state, only comes in one color, making it difficult to achieve a custom look.
    • 6. How do I take care of stainless steel pool products?

The best thing you can do for your stainless steel pool products is to keep them as clean as possible. Wipe them down or hose off with tap water as frequently as possible. A quality air handling system for indoor pool facilities helps as well. In cases where surface corrosion arises, treatment with Spectra-Clean and SpectraSheild is an option for restoring your stainless steel to its natural finish.
